Public Administration & Education
The mission of Public Administration (PA) education is to provide state of the art programmes that educate, develop and support public sector professionals (defined as but not limited to: policymakers, public managers, professionals, public officials, civic leaders, voluntary sector workers). This set of inaugural workshops will reflect on the current provision of public administration education in Europe and look to the future. Given the challenges to public administrations faced across the continent, this call for abstracts sets a challenge and asks whether our education offer is strategically prepared for the future?
In terms of knowledge and skills, are we, as educators, effectively developing today's public sector professionals and adequately preparing those yet to enter the job market? Do our programmes and professional development courses respond sufficiently to the reality of public sector challenges, and are they sufficiently embedding the democratic values that preserve and enhance public value and underpin good governance?
We invite colleagues to join the workshop and co-create an agenda that will be carried forward and developed. We welcome submissions that address the challenges set out above, and additional topics relevant to the study of PA education, broadly defined. Participants are encouraged to share theoretical, empirical, practical, case study, and evaluative contributions.
